Lucas's Blessing

Sunday, October 21st, was Lucas's blessing. We felt so blessed to have tons of support from our family and friends. We were early to church (imagine that) and we were able to snag the back row. Justen gave a beautiful blessing and Lucas was an angel the whole time. We attempted pictures afterwards, but Tanner was everywhere! By the following pictures you can tell it was a pain to get him to be still. We held a little brunch for our family afterwards. Everything tasted delicious and the weather was just beautiful. We ate on the back patio while the kids played in the yard. We are so grateful to have little Lucas in our family. He's an angel! A few of these pictures are from the Scottsdale RR park we went to the day before. Couldn't resist adding a few favorites.

Big Boys Don't Cry; Unless they're getting shots...

Today was Lucas' 2 month appt. That means shots. While we were there the Dr. said that Tan could get his flu shot too. Shots for both. There was lots of screaming, crying, and tears. Lukie went first. The nurse was super fast (good; better than those who drag it out). Luke got really red in the face and held his breath for like 15 seconds before he finally started screaming. While I was comforting him the nurse put Tanner on the table. He was so excited to be on the table because he'd been trying to get up there the whole time. Little did he know why he was up there. The nurse cleaned his leg and stabbed him real quick. Tan had a 5 second delayed reaction and then went ballistic. He was screaming, crying, throwing things, and was just down right angry. I was laughing; (like any good parent would do). Somehow, I convinced him to leave the room and head to the car. We grabbed a sucker on the way out and made it home just as nap time became a necessity. Both are sleeping and life is good! Hopefully they won't be cranky tonight! Here's a few of my recent favs; just because :)

2 Months Gone 2 Quickly

Lucas is 2 months today! These last few weeks have flown by. It seemed like the weeks before Luke's arrival took forever to pass, but time just flies by now. We are so lucky to have Lucas in our family. He's definitely a sweet addition to our family. He's dubbed the Mama's boy. He loves to smile for his mama and be held and cuddled by her. He's warming up to Dad (JK he loves Justen too). Although Lucas is most cautious of Tanner. He's always got his eyes on Tanner, watching him and waiting for Tanner to smoother him with "unnecessary" love. This means countless kisses a day and lots of touching Lukie's hands, feet, and face. Luke is making great strides. He usually sleeps 5-6 hours straight a night. We're working on more. He can roll from is stomach to his back; especially if he's upset and doesn't want to be on his tummy. He weighs around 12 pounds and his definitely getting chunky. Here's a few pictures of our sweet Lucas...

Since We've Been Home...

We are slowly learning life as a family of 4. Lucas & I came home from the hospital a week ago (8/8). It was nice to get home and get settled.
Tanner came home the next day. Tanner had no desire to even look at Lucas, or me for that matter. It took him a few days to get used to another littler person crying and needing attention, but now he is very intrigued by Lucas and wants to touch him constantly. Normally he is "soft" and pats his head, but occasionally he'll try to touch his eyes. Poor Lucas, he's gonna have to be strong to survive Tanner. Here's a pictures of what we've been up to.

Happy Birthday Lucas!

We are so excited to announce the birth of our sweet little boy; Lucas James. Born at 11:44 AM. He was 7 lbs 2 oz and 19 inches long. I was scheduled for my c-section on Aug. 23, but as my little boys like to do he came a bit early. I woke up this morning to take a shower and get ready for church, but as I went to turn on the shower my water broke. We turned our attention from church to getting to the hospital. We sent Tanner off with some friends to church and hurried to the hospital. At the hospital we checked in and the nurse quickly confirmed that we were going to have a baby. My doctor showed up shortly there after and we prepped for the c-section. To my utter surprise and delight, my previous nurse, Kelly, was there for me. It was so nice to have her beautiful familiar face there to comfort me and help me through. I soon was in the OR and Lucas was born at 11:44. For being 3 1/2 weeks early he was a great size. We are utterly thrilled to have him here and excited for our family of 4 to begin. Thanks to all our family and friends for support.
